INCREDIBLE day game drive safari - Satara, Kruger Park
Location: Satara Camp in Kruger Park
What an amazing start to the day with an awesome sunrise and then right into the leftover action of a Wildebeest killed by 16 lions the previous night. Just outside camp we stumbled on this sighting where the Black-Backed Jackal was still running around chasing Spotted Hyena whom was carrying a set of the horns. This looked like the last remains of the poor wildebeest.
There was no sign of the lions as we followed the Hyenas walking toward a waterhole nearby. Then suddenly as we came around the corner 16 Lions was walking in front of us what a sight.
Enough time is excellent light to capture some photos of them as the started to settle in for the day after the meal that they had the previous night. Now 16 lions one wildebeest that is considered a snack as Lions can eat 15 to 20 kg of meat in a full sitting. But never the less that will keep them for a day or two. The pride spend the rest of the day in the shade on the new loop towards Balule camp.

Flamingo in Kruger Park?
Yes we had the privilege to see a flamingo in Kruger National Park close in the Olifants River close to Olifants Camp. Was a late Christmas present for us for sure.
The flamingo’s pink colouring comes from the red-coloured pigments called carotenoids that are present in the flamingo’s food.
On safari we saw this single bird in the Olifants River from the high water bridge the first sighting of the Greater Flamingo for me in Kruger park in 30 years.
